What is lemongrass?

Lemongrass can be easily identified by its pale yellow-green trunk lemony scent. It is commonly found in Southeast Asia and grows in humid atmospheric conditions. Also, it is used as an ingredient in some countries like Indonesia, India, and Sri Lanka.

Lemongrass can be used in two ways:

  2. Dried

Fresh lemongrass is used in fries whereas Dried lemongrass is mainly used for soups or for dishes which takes more time to cook.

If you want to add fresh lemongrass in your Thai dish always remember to remove the stalk end and outer layer of the leaves. now it’s totally up to you to cut the remaining stalk into 2-3inch length or you can chop them into small pieces. One more thing you can do is just bruise these small pieces of stalks and then you can add them in your soup or curry as you like.

Lemongrass is very chewy; therefore, you need to cook your food carefully till the time it gets softened.
